Passed away peacefully at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton on Friday, September 19, 2014 at the age of 88. Beloved husband of Olga (nee Martini). Loving father of Paul, Dennis (Toni), and Ed (Helen). Cherished and proud nonno of David, Stephanie-Jade, Cassandra (Andrew), Melissa, and Nicole. Dear brother of the late Mario, the late Aroldo (the late Renata), the late Giovanni (Adelcisa), the late Romolo (Gloria), and Remo (Graciana). He will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by many family and friends in Canada, Italy and Connecticut. Antero was born in Isola di Fano, Urbino, Italy on November 29, 1925. He came to Canada in 1952. His sweetheart Olga followed in 1954 and they married that year. He was a well respected cabinet maker, enjoyed his garden and wine making. Above all, he was a proud family man and despite his recent illness, he continued to care for his wife right up until his passing. A loving husband, father, nonno and friend. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. The family wishes to thank all relatives and friends for their love and kindness and a heartfelt thank you to Matilda Rossi. A special thank you to Dr. Staibano for all of his years of dedicated care. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road) STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m and Monday from 5-8 p.m. Prayer Vigil Monday at 7:30 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church, 304 Highway #8, Stoney Creek on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at 10 a.m. Entombment Our Lady of Victory Mausoleum, Holy Sepulchre Cemetery . In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Juravinski Cancer Centre would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
