Bernice Margaret Feere (Beamish)

June 30, 1925 – Sept. 4, 2017

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her beloved family at Alexander Place in Waterdown on Monday, September 4, 2017 at the age of 92. Loving mother of Lynda Leeson (Carl), grandmother of Connie Scott (Terry) and Boyd Leeson (Leslie) and great grandmother of Robert, Lauren, Destiny, Serenity and Phoenix. Also remembered by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents George and Diana Beamish (Pocock) of Dundalk, eleven siblings, husband William Feere who was killed in the Second World War (1944) and longtime partner George Hughes (2007). Bernice became a single mother at 19. In order to support herself and her only daughter, she worked for many years at the Defence and Civil Institute of Environmental Medicine (DCIEM) at the Downsview Air Force Base and then Dominion Stores head office. After meeting George Hughes, they were active in the Legion and enjoyed travelling. They retired to The Orchards in Vineland in the mid 90s where Bernice continued to live following George’s passing. Bernice moved to Alexander Place in 2014. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Smokey Hollow Estates Club House, 114-118 Powerline Road, Brantford. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bernice’s name to your favourite charity.
