Obituary for Ivy Emma Emily Slater (Taylor)

Ivy Emma Emily Slater (Taylor)
Slater, Ivy Emma (nee Taylor)
Peacefully on February 20, 2019 in her 95th year.
Loved and cherished by daughters Donna and Karen and by grandchildren Anthony Slater, Sarah Padovani and Justin Padovani. Predeceased by Robert, her husband of 60 years, and sister Betty (Gordon) Greenland. She touched our lives with her constant love and encouragement and will be remembered for her sense of humour, generosity and grace. A longtime resident of Grimsby, Ivy was passionate about her community and very involved over the years in the Curling Club, Historical Society, Garden Club, Player’s Guild, Barbershop Choir, and the Seniors Centre. An avid traveler, Ivy was always game for an adventure. She truly lived life to the fullest. The family extends their deepest gratitude to her physicians, with a special thank you to Dr. Kevin Piercey. With his care, he gave Mom many quality years. We will be forever indebted to the staff and volunteers at McNally House for their compassionate care as she lived her final days. A Memorial Service will be held at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Monday, February 25, 2019 at 1p.m. Private family interment at a later date. Those wishing to make a donation in Ivy’s memory are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society or McNally House Hospice. A commemorative plaque will be placed on a bench in Coronation Park where Ivy often stopped to rest on her jaunts into town.
