Obituary for Marjorie Elizabeth Elmira Milligan (Kitchen)

Marjorie Elizabeth Elmira Milligan (Kitchen)
MILLIGAN, Marjorie (nee Kitchen) -

Passed away peacefully with family by her side, at the Village of Tansley Woods Retirement Home in Burlington, on Thursday, November 29, 2018, at the age of 91. The loving wife of the late John Milligan, Marjorie was the eldest of the 9 children of Percy and Marion Kitchen. Dear sister to Bruce (Claudette), Carl (Patti), John (Lee), Don (Gail), and Lynda Crickett (James). Predeceased by brothers Jim (late Shirley), Ken (Jean), and Bill (Jean). She will be missed by her nieces and nephews, as well as her many friends in Flesherton, Schomberg and Burlington, and particularly by her dear friends and neighbours, Craig and Helen Pritchard and Sue Wickett. A dedicated educator, she began her teaching career in the one room "North" school in Tecumseth Ont. She then taught at Islington Public School in Toronto for 15 years until she and John moved, as newlyweds to Burlington. In Burlington, she taught at both Wellington Square Public School and Burlington Central Public School. Her interest in education continued after retirement as she closely followed the progress of the younger generations. She was the hub of her large extended family that was spread throughout Canada and enjoyed hearing of their exploits. In retirement, Marjorie and John enjoyed their summers in Flesherton and their winters in Burlington, while engaging in their lifelong interest in travel. They involved themselves in many clubs and organizations. John and Marjorie enjoyed the conviviality of all they met. Always kind, caring and gracious, she enjoyed a life well lived. She will be sadly missed by many. As per Marjorie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private interment will be held for family and friends in Schomberg at a later date. If desired, donations in Marjorie’s memory to Friday Night Community at Wellington Square United Church would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Arrangements entrusted to SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, BURLINGTON, (905-632-3333).
