On Thursday, October 11, 2018, at the age of 89, Shirley passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at St. Peter's Hospital in Hamilton. Shirley Teresa Germaine Blades (nee Baker) was born January 15, 1929 in Hamilton, Ontario. Shirley was the beloved wife of the late Robert Blades (2017), loving mother and proud grandmother. She will be greatly missed by her children, Barry Blades (Natalia), David Blades (Karla), and Douglas Blades (Amy). Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Briana, Trevor, Kylie, Hanna, Courtney and Laurel. The family would like to extend their gratitude towards the dedicated staff at Tansley Woods and St. Peter’s Hospital who so thoughtfully cared for Shirley.
A Service to Celebrate Shirley's Life will take place at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at 1:00 pm. Reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, in memory of Shirley, would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
