Condolences

Condolence From: Suzanne Mlekuz
Condolence: Every now and again one is blessed with the appearance of a very special person. That was me when Rick joined the management team Southwestern Ontario Region Great-West in Hamilton. He brought energy, talent, humility and very well developed sense of what was right and what wasn't. He was a major contributor to the development of not only people but the most dynamic, successful Great-West organization in Canada.

The world as we know it tipped just a bit when he left, but I know when we look up there will be a new star, bigger and brighter than all of the rest.

Condolence: My heartfelt condolences to Rick's family. Rick was my very first "boss" as I started my career in the insurance industry. He certainly had a huge heart for people and demonstrated a lot of passion in the process!(I won't forget his booming voice and roaring laughter). Rick was never shy about sharing his faith directly and lovingly. I consider myself fortunate to have known him in those early years as a young adult, to have learned from him and have my character shaped in a positive way as a result. He was a true helper.

Condolence: Rick Carpenter, my friend, brother in Christ and mentor. I knew you six short years but you became to me “a friend that sticks closer than a brother”. As I wrote in your 74th birthday card a few short days ago, I know these three things:
1) We are all renters
2) I’ll be there before lunch
3) Golf can’t hold a candle to dancing on the streets
that are golden

You will be missed by all that had the good fortune of knowing you.

Condolence From: Mouse
Condolence: We had so much fun most every day in Windsor growing up. Old Carp could throw his bat about the furthest after striking out and swear at the top of his lungs while doing it. We lip sync'd Dion and the Belmonts (Don't Know Why I Love You) on "stage" at a CYO dance at St. Claire's in Windsor. We actually got applauded. Probably because of Carp. We loved when he said he was going out with us because we knew he'd always attract girls.

Where did all the time go?

Your old pal, Mouse.

Condolence: Friday mornings will always be some of my most treasured times as one of the "breakfast guys". However; we were not just "guys". We were/are Rick's brothers in Christ. His true love of interacting with our Lord Jesus, both in discussion and prayer, was why he was there. And I know that was only one of the many venues that Rick used for that purpose. Even as his earthly health was failing, he was most concerned that he and I wouldn't be able to continue talking about Jesus in person. My only regret, is that Rick is now getting all the correct answers to our "discussions" and has a headstart on me when we continue! Rick was truly a gift to Karen, all our children, and me, and will be missed here indeed. But we are confident and sure in the knowledge that Rick is now being blessed in ways he never imagined, by being fully together with his, and our, Lord Jesus.

Condolence: My condolences to the Carpenter families. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of dear Rick. Some Bible scripures that have helped me during times of loss include Isaiah 26:19 and Psalm 37:28,29 which states in part: "Your dead ones will live...They will rise up". And the Bible also says "The righteous themselves will possess the earth, and they will forever reside upon it". Therefore the Bible promises that we may be reunited with our loved ones lost in death by means of an earthly resurrection. This is further confirmed by John 5:28,29 which says "Do not marvel at this, because the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out". This is possible thanks to Jesus Christ's ransom sacrifice. Thus we have a genuine hope of everlasting life in a world without wickedness or suffering.
