Obituary for Robert "Bob" Wheeler

WHEELER, G. Robert “Bob”

A longtime resident of Burlington, Ontario, Bob passed peacefully in hospital on Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the age of 88. Loving father of Kelly Amos (Ian) and Tanya Porter (John) and the late Greg Wheeler (November 11, 2005). Cherished grandfather of Nicole and Taylor Amos, and Jessica and Trevor Porter. Bob will also be dearly missed by Joan Wheeler.

Bob was active in the real estate industry and then because of his love of camping, started a family business called Burlington Camping Centre, selling and servicing trailers and recreation vehicles for over 10 years. Bob later worked in the automotive industry, as Fleet Manager at Towne Chev Olds in Oakville. After retirement, Bob spent many long enjoyable weeks at their Bobcaygeon cottage and travelled on many trips to Florida and other locations in the family motorhome. One of his passions was attending Hydroplane boat races and he was always a passionate Blue Jays and Argos fan.

Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Monday, August 20, 2018 from 12 noon followed by a Celebration of Bob’s Life in the funeral home chapel at 1p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Bob are asked to please consider the Canadian Hemochromatosis Society or the Halton Learning Foundation.
