Obituary for Burton Lawrence Scott "Larry" Fischer

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at Juravinski Hospital, on Sunday, June 10, 2018, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of Betty Lou (nee Siddall) for 65 years. Beloved father of Larry Fischer, Jeffrey Fischer, Jamie Fischer and Debbie MacLennan (Iain). Cherished grandfather of Brandon Fischer (Dayna), Brodie Fischer, Bailey Fischer, Julia MacLennan and Jakob MacLennan. Great-grandfather of Tristan, Blake, Byron and Emerson. Dear brother of Bobby Fischer (Marion), Helen Fischer (Jackie Larouche) and the late John and Tommy Fischer. Father-in-law to Mary Jo Fisher. Born in London, Ontario, Larry grew up in Dunnville where he was an accomplished athlete playing baseball and goalie for the Dunnville Mudcats hockey club. He moved to Burlington with his family in 1970 and stayed there until 1997 when he and Betty Lou moved to Grimsby. Larry retired from Stelco after a 30 year career and loved spending time with his family in retirement. Second only to his love of family was his passion for sports. Along with being a dedicated Blue Jays fan, one of his greatest joys was watching his kids and grandchildren participating in their many sports and activities. Larry was loved by all who knew him with a heart so big it couldn't be stopped. He will be deeply missed by everyone who was fortunate enough to have him as part of their lives. A celebration of Larry's life will take place at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family. West Lincoln was literally near and dear to Larry's heart, having helped save his life nearly 20 years ago. Special thanks to the nurses and doctors of West Lincoln and Juravinski Hospitals for their wonderful care of Larry and his family during his final few days.
