Condolence: If you were to search for the best way to describe Jon it would be his smile. Wherever he went he always had that big boyish smile on his face. He loved his job, and he loved the people in the boating business. Mostly he just loved messing around on boats. During a boat test, as he pushed the throttle forward he would turn and say, "I've got the best job in the world. It just doesn't get any better than this!" We'll all miss him terribly, but I think that in some mysterious way, the smile will endure.

Condolence: My deepest condolences to Jon's mother and all his many friends. Jon was such a wonderful young man who brought great passion to his work. He would always be smiling and you instantly thought of Jon as a friend. He was so congenial. The whole boating community has suffered a loss with Jon's passing. We are truly shaken by this tragedy.

Condolence: On behalf of all of us at STINGRAY Boats, I offer my sincerest condolences. Jonathan was a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.

I remember the first time I saw Jonathan (I recognized him from his photo), even though I didn’t actually meet him until a few months later. I was at the Miami boat show for the first time and saw him walking the show. He was wearing his backpack and carrying his camera and notebook, documenting the new product offerings at the show. Even then, before actually meeting him, it was impressive to see how eager he was to be doing his job.

When I met him at one of our media events a few months later, I witnessed more of the same. He showed up with his camera and notebook, ready to ask questions and learn all he could about our boats. A couple hours after leaving our event, I received an e-mail from him, requesting a little more information. I knew he couldn’t possibly be home yet. Sure enough, he was at the airport, writing a short intro article and was anxious to get it published before getting on the plane, which he did.

A few things I will always remember about Jonathan — he was always smiling; he was always very friendly and outgoing; he was always anxious to ask questions and get to work on his next story; he was extremely professional; and he approached his job with more enthusiasm than anyone else I’ve ever met in the marine industry.

I was heartbroken to hear that you were gone, Jonathan. It was an extreme pleasure to know you and work with you. You will be missed.

Condolence: I am so very sorry for your loss of your dear son. I have found comfort in the scriptures Isaiah 63:9 comes to mind for you in that not only does Jehovah intensely share your pain, but he promises to carry you through it because he knows your at your limit. Remember too, that he knows your loss is great and will be whatever you need him to be so as to sustain you. Wishing you peace to bring comfort and courage to face the days ahead.
