Monica Rose Doyle (Pasquetti)
DOYLE, Monica Rose
nee Pasquetti
Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, March 16, 2018 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Hamilton at the age of 93. Loving wife of James for 66 years. Devoted mother to Annette (Frank), Colleen (the late Joe), Judy (Jack), James (the late Sonie), Brenda (Jeff) and Phil (Beth). Proud Grandmother to Valerie (Julio), Julie (Mark), Jennifer (Joe), Brian (Christine), Joe (Sarah), Katherine, Michele (Ken), Noel, Daniel, Shannon and Mackenzie. Cherished Great Grandmother to Ronin, Connor, Charlotte, Milo, Marlie, Alison, Joey, Eric, Jake, Kayla, Kennedy, Logan and Ellery. She will be greatly missed by her sister Pat, nephew Tony, and the entire Hamilton family. As an immigrant to Canada, Monica leaves behind her beloved Pasquetti and Doyle families in Ireland, England, Australia, U.S.A. and Italy. Our mother was the heart and soul of our family. Her kindness, spirit and sense of humour will live forever with those who had the privilege of knowing her. She provided us with strength, joy, laughter and memories that we will always cherish. She would welcome you into her home with a cup of tea, and a joke she learned at the salon. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening and singing. Her family will always remember all the clothing and costumes she made, eating her delicious homemade soup, watching her husband, Jimmie, unload a trunk full of food for a family event, and the Christmas tradition of receiving shortbread, Belgian cookies and Irish pudding from Monica. As a young woman she played tennis, was educated at St. Mary’s College in Dublin, Ireland in the Domestic Sciences, and worked as a seamstress. In Canada, she worked at Westinghouse and Mount Royal Fashions. Monica had the ability to play the piano by ear. She also loved to sing. Monica was a member of the Dublin Operatic Society, the Burlington Choral Society and St. Gabriel’s Choir. Monica was a founding member of St. Gabriel’s Parish where she was an active member for many years. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Birch Tree Family Medicine, Joseph Brant Hospital, Juravinski Hospital, St. Peter’s Hospital, The Village of Wentworth Heights, as well as the Paramed and LHIN services. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of QEW), Burlington (905-632-3333), on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 3-5 and 7-9p.m. Vigil 8p.m. Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, 2261 Parkway Drive, Burlington, on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at 11a.m. Cremation to follow. Donations in Monica’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, the Good Shepherd Centre, or the Salvation Army.
