Obituary for Thelma A. McGillivray (Gogo)

Thelma A. McGillivray (Gogo)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thelma, on Sunday, January 28, 2018, loving partner of Bill Osepchook. She will be deeply missed by her children Colleen McGillivray (John Jerabek), Pegi McGillivray, Cheryl McGillivray and Colin McGillivray (Sue), her grandchildren Andrew Jerabek, Justin and Jakob McGillivray and her extended Osepchook and Gogo family.
Thelma is survived by her siblings Norman and Jeanne and predeceased by Bettye, Allan, Don, Jack, Bob and Marilyn.
She and her partner Bill loved to travel, garden, curl and dance. Her passion was reading, writing and acquiring knowledge. During her career as a MSW, she worked in family mediation and therapy. Thelma was proud to call herself a feminist and social activist. Her advocacy for children, women and seniors was shown through her countless hours of volunteering for many committees and organizations such as The Provincial Council of Women of Ontario, Canadian Federation of University Women and The Older Women’s Network.
Her passion for life gave her the strength to fight her illness until God took her into his arms.
Thelma will be remembered. Her efforts made a difference.

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Saturday, February 3, 2018 from 12 p.m., where a Funeral Service will follow in the Chapel at 1 p.m. For those who wish, donations in memory of Thelma to the Halton Women’s Place would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
