Obituary for William "Bill" John McQueen

William "Bill" John McQueen
McQUEEN, William John "Bill"

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Bill at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on Sunday January 28, 2018 at the age of 66. Loving husband of Cathy (nee Johnston). Devoted father of Alexa and Tim. Dear son of Mabel McQueen (late Murray). Cherished brother of Don McQueen (Elizabeth), Cathy Ozlos (Carlos), David McQueen (late Barb), and Gary McQueen (Kandice), and brother-in-law of David Johnston (Ann), Cindy Bennett, and Barbara Finley. Oscar and Louie will especially miss sharing Billy's chair and comforting lap. Bill will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, numerous friends and colleagues.

Billy was a competitor. Be it any type of sports, and most especially baseball, Bill thrived on the game, still playing just one more season. He was a regular at his Southmount high school track teams' wing night, still being helmed by Mr. Hall and the boys. His favourite music was the Fan 590 with Bob McCown. A skilled and admired negotiator, Billy combined his love of buying for Sears, Walmart, and most recently Blue Rhino with his passion for travel.

Visitation will be held SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of the QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Thursday February 1, 2018 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday February 2, 2018 at 10:30am with a reception to follow at the funeral home. Private Interment to be held at a later date. Billy would say that flowers were Cathy's thing. If desired, donations in his memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society, two charities very dear to the family, would be sincerely appreciated. To all the first responders, firemen, police and paramedics, and to those wonderful strangers who were with Billy and provided immediate help, our deepest thanks.

Billy, we hold you close in our hearts.
