Obituary for Jeanne Margaret Field (Hurst)

Jeanne Margaret Field (Hurst)
Jeanne Margaret Field (nee Hurst) passed away November 4, 2017, at Billings Court Manor in Burlington, Ontario.

Born in Hamilton to George and Hannah Hurst in December of 1927, Jeanne was a wonderful mother and grandmother who will be very much missed.

Jeanne was a registered nurse (graduating from Hamilton General in 1950) but was perhaps best known for her artistic and entrepreneurial endeavours. She was highly respected throughout North America and internationally as an instructor and designer of hand-hooked rugs and owned several shops including The Front Parlour, The Blue Willow and Rittermere-Hurst-Field.

Among the many who will miss Jeanne are her children George (Delphine), grandchildren Donovan and Adrian, and 4 great grandchildren, of Shawnigan Lake, BC; Patrick (Michelle), Ancaster, ON; David, Toronto, ON and Andrea (Rob), Holland Landing, ON as well as grandchildren William and Emma.

Jeanne was blessed to have a very close extended family of nieces and nephews including Patricia Ross, Kathleen & Mike Thorpe, Kathy & Steven Forrest and their families.

In addition to her parents, Jeanne was predeceased by her husband Lloyd, and her sisters Ailsie Forrest and Eleanor Swarbrick.

A celebration of Jeanne’s life will be held at Lake Road Restaurant, 229 James Street North, Hamilton, Saturday December 9, between 11am-3pm.

The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at Billings Court for the care Jeanne received in her final years; and to Ramiro and the staff at Swiss Chalet on Fairveiw Road, Burlington, for making their weekly lunch dates so enjoyable.

In lieu of flowers donations to the Hospital for Sick Children would be appreciated. https://secure.sickkidsfoundation.com/donate/
