Condolences

Condolence From: Patricia Milne
Condolence: My deepest sorrow as you have left us, Doris. I am very sure you have your new spot well in hand, "teaching" a brand new audience! As life is all about choices, you showed us Doris, with your every breath, that it's possible to choose humour for the length of the run (and that a slice of Lemon Meringue is a very valuable resource). It was my pleasure to have known you.

Condolence: Will be missed, a kind soul with a great sense of humour (anyone who laughs at my jokes is in my books a great person).

Doris is always in my heart.

Condolence From: Karen Cumming
Condolence: Darling Doris. She was a beautiful soul who brought us so many gifts during the time that we knew her -- the greatest of which was humour. Doris had a wonderful way of looking at just about anything and spinning it on its head to make it funny. She made us laugh at the craziness of life by showing us that things didn't have to be so serious, and that there was humour to be found everywhere if only we would look for it. Doris taught by example that we each have a choice: we can laugh or we can cry. Her philosophy, of course, was that laughing is always the best option -- and the sooner the better! I've lost count of the hilarious one-liners she came out with, but they were often worthy of Phyllis Diller or Johnny Carson. I cherish the memory of the laugher they prompted at her table in the dining room at Deer Park Villa. Doris was an angel here on earth to my Mother and her many friends at the Villa. She was a down-to-earth lady who told it like it was with a refreshing jolt of honesty. How did we love her? Let us count the ways. Doris was a pistol. She was the prize in your box of Crackerjack. She was the candy bar in your Christmas stocking. She was the cherry on your sundae. She was a chocolate dipped cone at the Dairy Queen... and so much more. Our great consolation comes in knowing she is now cracking jokes at the dinner table in heaven, making God and all the other angels laugh. Doris, we love you so deeply and we miss you so much. Please look down on the friends you've left behind and guide us on our journey.
