Obituary for Frances Ayako Yoshida

Frances Ayako Yoshida
YOSHIDA, Frances Ayako (nee Takimoto)
10 September 1918 – 9 September 2017
Reunited with her beloved Tom who predeceased her in 1986, Frances passed away peacefully at Creek Way Village, Burlington on the eve of her 99th birthday. Loving mother of Lorraine Yamamoto and Geoff Yoshida, proud grandmother of Linda and Neil Yamamoto and delighted great-grandmother of Dylan Wright. Frances is survived by her sister Sachi Oue of Stratford and sisters-in-law Alice Takimoto and Trudy Yoshida, both of Toronto. Predeceased by her parents Tsuchi and Naokichi Takimoto, brothers Albert and Richard and sister Kimi Takimoto. Also predeceased by son-in-law Sam Yamamoto, brothers-in-law Eiichi Matsuo, Noboru and Bruce Yoshida and sisters-in-law Hamako Matsuo, Yuki Yoshida, Fuku Nishiuchi, Tosh Kamino and Gladys Takimoto. She will also be remembered by her many nieces, nephews and their families. Frances was born in New Westminster BC, married in Vancouver, moved to Beamsville and finally settled in Hamilton. She began teaching nursery school, then studied to become a kindergarten teacher with the Hamilton Board of Education. She was active in the Hamilton Kindergarten Teachers Association, RWTO and RTO and loved her volunteer role as tour leader for children’s groups at Chedoke-McMaster Hospital. Frances took many memorable trips with Tom, enjoyed playing bridge, golfing at Pineland Greens, swimming and attending church and quilting with her First Pilgrim friends. The family wishes to thank her wonderful personal physicians, Dr. Tom Tweedie and Dr. Garth Noad and the staff members at Burlington Gardens, Amica at Dundas and Creek Way Village, Burlington for their friendship and care in her later years. Frances requested that there be no formal service. If so desired, a memorial donation may be made to the Burlington Teen Tour Band or The Chldren’s Wish Foundation.
