It is with sadness the family announces the passing of John at his home surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, June 13, 2017 at the age of 61. Loved husband of Mary and step-father of Sean Young (Lynn). Cherished brother of Lynn Swaerdens (the late Hans), Bill (Sue) and Bert (Julie). Missed also by his nieces, nephews, great-nephews, great-nieces, friends and co-workers. He was a dedicated Machinist at UTC Aerospace for 31 years. John was the kind of man who could walk into a room and make everyone laugh and feel good. He was very caring, always helping out friends whenever they needed. He was talented and meticulous but known as a simple man who loved life. John played lots of baseball and golf, and loved Nascar racing. John believed in paying it forward and liked remaining anonymous for his good deeds. Visitation at STONEHOUSE-WHITCOMB FUNERAL HOME, 11 Mountain Street, GRIMSBY (905-945-2755) on Saturday, June 17, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. A Celebration of John's Life will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday, June 19, 2017 at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Juravinski Hospital would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
