SMITH, E. Hazel (nee Cayless)
E. Hazel Smith passed away into the arms of her loving Saviour at CAMA Woodlands Long Term Care Home, Burlington on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the age of 90. Beloved wife for 64 years of F. John Smith. Predeceased by her parents, Emily and Stephen Cayless and her sister, Pansy Cook (Art). Much loved mother of Arnold Smith (Mary), Carol Melnik (Jim), and Brian Smith. Proud grandmother of Derek Smith, Jenna Dixon (Lee), and Steven Melnik. Delighted to be the great grandmother of Kayla and Zachary Dixon. Hazel grew up as the daughter of a florist in Brantford. She took her nurse's training at the Brantford General Hospital. With her husband John, she served as a missionary in Quito, Ecuador with World Radio Missionary Fellowship (HCJB) for 10 years. Hazel and John lived in Oakville for many years. Hazel enjoyed gardening, doing puzzles, her family, getting to know her neighbours, and most of all serving her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. The family would like to express their thanks to the staff at CAMA Woodlands for their loving care. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Monday, May 29, 2017 from 7-9 p.m. Funeral Service will be held at Oakridge Bible Chapel, 2250 Eighth Line, Oakville on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at 11 a.m. Reception to follow at the church. Private Interment Mt. Hope Cemetery, Brantford. For those who wish, donations in memory of Hazel to CAMA Woodlands Long Term Care Home or Oakridge Bible Chapel would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
