So pleased that Canadian Cancer Society is your charity of choice, as cancer got both my parents far before their time...just like it took Helen. Beth and Jenn, for what it's worth, someone told me when my mother died (almost identical situation to Helen's) that "Mothers never really die. They just move inside your skull and continue to work on you from there." It brought me a strange kind of comfort, and I hope you feel that, too -- though it may take time. Deepest sympathies to all of you on such a huge loss. XO

Gerry, Jenn, Beth & Families - there are no words that feel quite right to express how deeply saddened I was to hear of the loss of your wife/mom. I can only hope that you know how blessed we all were to have shared moments and memories with her and all of you. When I started at BCHS I couldn't wait to become a part of Central Company but what I didn't realize was how much a part of me it would become. Mrs Z taught me so many lessons by simply opening the door to the auditorium and challenging me to be more creative, resilient and focused than I ever would have been without her encouragement. As Willem Dafoe said "Great theatre is about challenging how we think and encouraging us to fantasize about a world we aspire to.” and Mrs. Z did the same for me.

Beth, Jenn and Gerry. I am so sad to hear of your mother/wife's passing. Although we haven't kept in touch over the years since high school, Mrs. Z comes to my mind whenever I think of the career path I chose and my love for theatre. She influenced me in so many ways - not only in theatre, but as a strong woman. I thank her so much for that. You are all in my thoughts right now at this sad time.

Gerry, Jen, Beth and family, I am so deeply sorry to hear about the loss of Mrs. Z (Helen). She was the most amazing woman with a huge amount of zest for life. Her passion was infectious and her drive and determination to put on the best production she could helped us all become better people under her guidance. My years at BCHS and working with her were made so much better because she was a part of my life. She was loved by so many and she will never be forgotten.
