Obituary for Mary Elizabeth "Sue Q" Quennell (Higgins)

Mary Elizabeth "Sue Q" Quennell (Higgins)
QUENNELL, Mary Elizabeth “Sue Q” (nee Higgins) -

Sue’s dance with cancer finally came to an end on Monday, April 24, 2017 at the age of 72. A fighter to the end, she passed away with her girls by her side at The Carpenter Hospice in Burlington. Predeceased by loving husband Bruce Quennell (2000), and fondly remembered by her current partner of the last 10 years, Joe Pennimpede. Cherished mother of Tracey Quennell (Steve Eggers) of Burlington and Allison Quennell of Toronto. Fiercely proud grandmother of Ben Pehora and Lauren Pehora. Dear step-grandmother of Chantel Eggers and Vanessa Eggers. Sister of Marguerite “Sis” Leid, and half-sister of late Chuck Schutt and the late Janet Brown, and mother-in-law of Jason Pehora. Sue will also be missed by extended family and friends, as well as her numerous colleagues with the Halton Catholic District School Board and the EQAO. She was a lifelong educator both in and out of the classroom. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 from 6-9pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church (4072 New Street, Burlington), on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 11:00am. Reception to follow at the church hall. Private Cremation and Interment to take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Sue’s memory to The Carpenter Hospice or Kidney Cancer Canada would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
