Obituary for Bob Stanbury

Bob Stanbury
Surrounded by the love of his family until the end, Bob passed away peacefully just as he would have wanted it, on December 5, 2016 in his 80th year. Bob endured many ups and downs the last few years, fighting through all the downs with such strength, a positive attitude and a strong will to live that had many others, including Doctors, amazed. The last two years became more of a challenge for Bob as he suffered with Dementia on top of already having loss of sight and hearing. But even Dementia did not change the fun-loving man that Bob was and Bob was all about fun, having a good time wherever and whoever he was with. It was two and a half months ago, that we began to see a change in Bob after the passing of his beloved son Rob who battled cancer for three short months. Not wanting to upset or confuse him, we kept the news from Bob. We now feel that he knew this in his heart and is the reason why he gave up his own fight to be with Rob and has now joined him in heaven. Bob will be sadly missed. Loving husband and soulmate of Beverly for 59 years. Devoted father of John (Faye), Late Rob (Stacie), Rosanne, Randy and Richard. Proud grandfather of Ryan, Jay, Raeanne, Miranda, Darcy, Devon, and Dakota. Loving brother of late Floyd (Marilyn), Late Ken, Bill (Merle), Don, and sister Lois (Jon) along with many extended family members and friends.

Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Friday December 9, 2016 from 6:00 – 9:00 pm and Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 12 noon until the time of Funeral Service, beginning at 1:00 pm. Reception to follow at Barra Fion Tapas & Barrel (1505 Guelph Line). Private cremation will take place. For those who wish, donations in memory of Bob to the Joseph Brant Memorial Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family. They would like to extend their gratitude towards 4West, 4South, CCAC, Dr. Garland and Acclaim Health (Oakville).
