VICKERS, David Roderick -

Passed away peacefully at Joseph Brant Hospital in Burlington on Monday, December 5, 2016 at the age of 86. Survived by his loving wife Sheelagh (nee Boland) of 62 years. Cherished father of Rev. Brian Vickers (Mardi) and the late Dawn Vickers (1975). Predeceased by his parents Herbert and Margaret (nee Wilson), and his brother Donald Vickers. David will be missed by extended family and numerous friends. David retired 26 years ago after a lengthy career with the Ford Motor Co., and he was a long-time member of the Burlington Curling Club and leader of the Rogues Choir at the Roseland Club. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of the Joseph Brant Hospital Cancer Clinic and Acute Medicine Unit for the excellent care provided. Private cremation has taken place. A Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 485 Brant Street (one block north of City Hall), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 7-9pm. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the chapel on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 beginning at 1:00pm, with a reception to follow at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, donations in David’s memory to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
