Obituary for John Thorne

John Thorne
Thorne, (W) John
Passed away peacefully Friday December 2, at Joseph Brant Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He had just celebrated his 69th birthday.
John was born in Stoke-on-Trent, Great Britain, Nov 26, 1947 to Wilfred Thorne and Brenda Birch (predeceased). Beloved husband of Margaret Mary (nee Campbell) and loving father to Janet Clay and her husband Iain Brown. Dear brother to Jill (Jerome Denine), Reg (Lynda), Robert (Libby), and Mark (Linda). Brother in law to Russell and Donna Campbell, John and Marni Campbell, and Donald and Jane Campbell. John will be sadly missed by his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
It is truly difficult to describe John, and as the adage states, to know him was to love him. Climbing the corporate ladder held no interest for John and his true love and priority was always his home and his family. John had a beautiful, gentle soul and courageously battled illness for several years. He had an easy-going, kind-hearted nature and possessed a sharp wit and infectious sense of humor that brightened the lives around him.
After attending high school in Oakville, John enlisted in the Army and was a tank driver for the Royal Canadian Dragoons. He worked many years as a truck driver, and eventually transitioned to the automotive industry where he found his passion as a gifted Automotive Refinisher and Painter.
John was an avid golfer, extremely talented photographer, and also possessed a keen interest and love for aviation.
John met the love of his life in 1989, and married Margaret in 1994, eventually settling in Burlington. They celebrated 22 years of happy, loving marriage. John would often attribute his successful marriage to always taking the time to say 'I love you'.
John will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him. His passing has left a void that will heal in time with many years of beautiful memories.
