Obituary for Anna Giacomodonato

Anna Giacomodonato

GIACOMODONATO, Anna (nee Di Donato) -

Passed away peacefully overlooking her favorite view at Wasaga Beach, Ontario, on Sunday, August 21, 2016 at the age of 76. Loving wife of Giovanni for 56 years. Cherished mother of Luigi, Angela, and Joe (Bonnie). Proud and loving Nona of Brittany, Rachel, Kristin, Holly, Matthew, and Joshua. Dear sister of Antonino, Carmine, Domenica, Maria, Bernardo, Mario. Anna will be missed by her large extended family and numerous friends. Anna was born in Mignano Monte Lungo, Italy, came to Canada in 1959 and settled in Toronto. She and Giovanni were married in 1960. They moved with their children to Burlington in 1965. Anna’s love and caring for others was a testament to her kind soul. Her most cherished time was volunteering with the Ladies at St. Paul the Apostle on Monday afternoon with the Ministry for the Needy. She shared with them her skill at knitting and was able to provide warm clothing for those to whom the group ministered. Anna was an avid gardener and particularly enjoyed growing delicious vegetables for her family. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm, with vigil prayers at 8pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, (2265 Headon Road, Burlington), on Thursday, August 25, 2016 at 10:30am. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington to follow. If desired and in lieu of flowers, donations in Anna’s memory to Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
