HOLMES, Catherine (nee Bannon) -

Passed away peacefully, surrounded by family at the Stedman Community Hospice’s Hankinson House, Brantford on Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the age of 84. Predeceased by her loving husband Dan (November, 1991). Devoted mother of Debbie Cummins (late Bruce Allison), Leanne Townsend (late Gary Townsend) (Dan Cady), Ryan Holmes (Janice), and Andrea “Dolly” Holmes. Cherished grandmother of Kelly Edmonds (Blair), Sarah McNaughton (Mike), Danny Holmes, Kyle Holmes, Christine Cummins (Ian Lord), Jimmy Cummins (Kristin Campbell), Marissa Whiteway (Andrew), and Caitlin Allison, and great-grandmother of Brock McNaughton, Camryn Whiteway and Connor Whiteway. Also survived by dear sister Patti Nichols, and predeceased by siblings; Greta Tilson, Mardi Bannon, Dorothy Mearns, Leo Bannon, Lynn Warren, Joe Bannon, Fran Sonoski, Ann Pierce, Fred Bannon, and Paul Bannon. Catherine will also be missed by her godsons Paul Nichols and David Sonoski, other extended family and numerous friends. Visitation will be held at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stoplight north of QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333, on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 from 7-9pm, with vigil prayers at 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church (Brant Street at Blairholm Avenue), on Wednesday, July 27, 2016 beginning at 11am. Private cremation and interment to take place at a later date.
