Obituary for Doreen Belton (Maddison)

It is with great sadness that on Sunday, June 26, 2016 we said goodbye to Doreen Belton as she passed away at McNally House Hospice in Grimsby following a four year battle with cancer. Survived by her husband of sixty-four years, John Belton and their four children; Julie Brown (Jim), Paul, Jan and Anthony (Tony) Belton. Also missing their devoted grandmother are Janelle, Brock, Brianna (Robbie) and Ashley (Andrew). Doreen and John came from England and settled in Grimsby in 1960. Doreen worked at Zellers for over 40 years. Upon retirement Doreen kept busy traveling and enjoying her garden. She took pride in her commitment to the Grimsby Senior Centre, raising well over $21,000 in book and knitting sales. The family would like to thank all the people who helped make Doreen's life comfortable during the last four years from the staff at Juravinski Hospital and CCAC. In addition, the family expresses its appreciation to the staff and endless volunteers who provided excellent care at McNally House Hospice. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Doreen's life will be held at Livingston Activity Centre,18 Livingston Ave, Grimsby on Saturday, July 9, 2016 from 1-3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to McNally House Hospice in Doreen's memory would be greatly appreciated.
