“Life is a song… sing it ‘til your heart’s content.” Laura
HILLIER, Laura Carol
Laura slipped away in the loving arms of her family at Juravinski Hospital, Hamilton on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 after a valiant battle with leukemia. Taken too soon at the age of 18. Beloved daughter of Gregory and Frances Hillier. Adored sister of Heather. Cherished granddaughter of Frank and Edna Pitt and the late Charles and Monica Hillier. Treasured niece of Sandy, Penny, Cathy and Lloyd. Dear cousin of Kyle, Devon, Margy, Natalie, Sean and Jenny. Laura was a remarkable woman whose life, although short, impacted the lives of many. Her passion, intellect, voice, creativity, talent, kindness, and love of life inspired friends, family and acquaintances. Her courageous battle against leukemia and her crusade to bring attention to the need for stem cell transplant resources have inspired health care providers, bureaucrats and complete strangers. Laura will be missed by many. Special thanks to the extraordinary and compassionate staff at Juravinski Hospital and for the never-ending love and support from friends and family too numerous to mention. Visitation at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, BURLINGTON (905-632-3333), on Thursday the 28th from 7-9 pm, and Friday the 29th from 3-5 & 7-9 p.m. A Funeral Service to celebrate Laura will be held at Wellington Square United Church, 2121 Caroline Street, Burlington on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at 11 am with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Laura to www.beyondkidscancer.ca\laurahillier would be sincerely appreciated by the family. Funds will be used to improve resources for stem cell transplants, furthering Laura’s mission to put an end to wait times.
