Obituary for Frederick George Lee Chivers
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear father in his 92nd year. Fred passed away peacefully at McNally House in Grimsby on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 after a brief illness. He was predeceased in 2010 by his beloved wife Ruth after 64 years of marriage. He is survived by his daughter Valerie Roszell (Jim), his son Michael Chivers (Connie), his granddaughters Leigh Roszell-Hoag (Paul) and Jennifer Nagy (Kevin) and his two adorable great-grandchildren Cassidy and Austen. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his brother Jack and sisters Betty and Beryl. As a proud Canadian, Fred fought for his country in World War II serving in the Royal Canadian Navy. He worked for many years for the Prudential Life Insurance Company of Canada and was a familiar and friendly face around the town of Grimsby for all of his life. He was a kind and generous person and was well liked by all who knew him. Our family would like to thank Dr. D. Smith and the nurses in the ICU and on Ward C at West Lincoln Memorial Hospital for their care and compassion for the last couple of weeks. A special thank-you to the wonderful staff at McNally House for making our father so comfortable in his final hours. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family interment at a later date. If desired, memorial contributions to McNally House would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
