Obituary for Peggy Erskine

Erskine, Margaret Smith "Peggy"
After a long battle with kidney disease, Peggy passed away on Saturday, September 24, 2011 in her 81st year. Predeceased by her husband William (1980), her sister Isabel Campbell, her son Douglas and her son-in-law David Pitt. Lovingly remembered by her daughter Beverley Pitt, and son and daughter-in-law Graham and Dianne Erskine. Cherished Nana of Sean (Candace) Erskine, Dan and Maggie Pitt, and Kayla, Sarah and Eddie Erskine. Peggy was blessed to have gotten to know her first great-grandchild, Winter Erskine. Peggy is also survived by her sisters, Agnes (George) Philp in Scotland and Jean (Cliff) Clifton in England. Born in Rosyth, Dunfermline, Scotland in 1931, Peggy emigrated to Canada in 1956. A retiree of Dofasco, she kept active in her retirement years as a member of the Roselawn Bowling Club and a carpet bowling league. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the medical staff of the Nephrology Unit in the Juravinski Tower at St. Joseph Hospital for their compassion and dignified treatment of Peggy in her final days. Special thanks to Dr. Boyle, palliative care nurse Greg and nurses Daniel, Jessie, Katelyn and Jean. Our deep appreciation especially to Dr. Alistair Ingram for his excellent care of our mother since she was diagnosed with kidney disease, right up until her passing. Peggy will be missed by her friends and neighbours and her "dialysis pals" at the Bayshore Dialysis Clinic, where the nurses and staff always treated her with gentleness and friendship. According to her wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at SMITH'S FUNERAL HOME, 454 Highway #8 (east of Millen Road), STONEY CREEK (905-664-4222) on Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 1 p.m. A private urn burial will take place at a later date. In honour of Peggy's struggle, donations to the Kidney Foundation of Ontario would be appreciated.
